Q: To see how safe your tire tread is using a penny, where should Lincoln's head be?
I learned the penny trick in auto shop class to tell whether or not my tires needs to be replaced. How exactly does that technique work again? I've been wearing my tread down to the red indicators, which has happened during summer months the past few times, but the rainy season's creeping up and I want to play it safe. I never depended on that technique, having forgotten where or what part of Lincoln's head should be along the tread depth. So, can someone remind me how to do that correctly?
A: You don't need a penny just look at the tire!
