Q: Can anyone tell me where spark plugs are located for 2004 Volvo S60 and how to replace them?
Have never worked on cars and trying to learn. Will appreciate for detailed instruction.

A: You must be carefull, it's easy to find the sparkplugs in your vehicle, if your engine is a V6 then you'll need 6 sparkplugs, if it's a 4 cyl then you'll need 4 sparkplugs, you'll only need one tool, and its the ratchet with a dice 5/8 of an inch (most sparkplugs have that size), so you follow the cable and just pull it out they're attached just by pressure, inside the hole is the sparkplug so you must fit the 5/8 dice in there with an extensor (probable) and the unscrew it counterclock wise and it should come up, if it is unscrewed but it doesn't come up, use the same cable, push the cable inside the hole and apply pressure, it should get stuck in the plug, the pull it back and it should bring the plug out, insert the new one, screw it clock wise, the insert the cable and apply pressure, WARNING THE CAR ENGINE MUST BE OFF DURING THIS PROCEDURE.... AND YOU SOULD NOT MIX THE CABLES, they have a pecific order and if you mess with them, you wont be able to star the engine again. each cable has it's own and unique position.

Q: Is it bad to run my Volvo S60 day-time lights with silverstar ultras?
I just got a set of 4,000k silverstar ultra low beam headlights. I know the life is shorter but will it make a big difference with the day-time running lights?

A: No, I don't think it will make a difference.

Q: should i buy a 2002 volvo s60 or a 2000 nissan maxima? which is more expensive to maintain?
I like both cars but i prefer the s60, however i've heard mixed reviews on both cars. I know both cars are pretty expensive to maintain as well, they're both about the same price/mileage. how much more expensive is one to maintain than the other? if anyone has any kind of idea

A: the volvo is the better of the 2 it will cost more for repairs but they don't break down too often i would buy the volvo if it was me that had a decision like that.

Q: Would anyone know why my volvo S60 stopped abruptly and wouldn't accelarate?
The check engine light turned on and the message read critical engine service required. I just got the car serviced 2 months ago. The car is not accelarating at all. What would be the problem?

A: the dreaded electronic throttlebody system. really it's not a big deal, there have been campaign bullitens on these and extended goodwill services [most times throttle body replacement and then a computer reflash] you will have to get your car to a volvo dealer though

Q: How do I replace automatic transmission fluid on volvo s60?
The car has become erratic when driving and has recently shown a "Transmission service required" message

A: Volvo has released service bulletins on some transmission shifting problems. This includes downloading the latest software upgrade for the TCM(trans. control module) and the correct trans. fluid. The trans. fluid calls for synthetic fluid which is very critical on some trans. I strongly advise u to find a reputable Volvo independent repair shop and ask if they have the capabilities of performing this repair. Just remember that this repair is 50/50 chance of remedying the problem however it is the most economical and way in handling this problem and may save u from replacing that expensive trans..........Remember, TCM software upgrade and Synthetic transmission fluid! Good luck!

Q: how much is it to replace a headgasket on a 2002 volvo s60?
Took the spark plug out after noticing sputtering and saw the brown liquid on it. Where to go in seattle to have it replaced? The oil is on the top of the spark plug and it only sputters on start up. How did you know this and what is the problem?

A: You can expect 15-20 hours of labor at your favorite mechanics shop (plus parts of course). If someone quotes you much less than that I would not trust him......

Q: How to change the oil in my Volvo S60?
Where in the heck is the canister filter? ...and I suppose the drain plug is under the car! It's a 2004.

A: You must remove the gravel guard underneath the car. The black canister, which is plastic, requires a special tool to remove it. Do not try to use any other tools like a big channel lock or similar to remove it. Unless u want to purchase a new canister. Once removed, replace the o-ring that on the canister. Your new oil filter element should come with a new o-ring. Apply some clean oil around the new o-ring. Clean oil residue around the canister thoroughly. Before putting back the gravel guard, add the correct amount of engine oil. Start the engine and observe the eng. oil warning light and make sure it goes out. Check for oil leaks while engine running around canister and oil drain plug. Now u can put the shield back on. Double check eng. oil level with eng. shut off and add as necessary. If ur a do it youself can of guy, i highly recommend using synthetic eng. oil. It's better for your eng. everyway and changing intervals are every 6k miles rather than 3k miles with standard oil.

Where can I find leather paint to touch-up the spots where the paint has worn off? I have tan leather, and the worn spots look black.

A: You need to have a colour mixed to match otherwise the repairs will not look good. You can have a colour mixed at LTT if you are in the UK, they specialise in this sort of thing.
