Q: Can I put any blow off valve on my Volvo S80 Twin Turbo?
Does it have to be special?

A: S80's already have a recirculating blow off valve. If you're wanting that cool "whoosh" sound, you can do it by venting the air into the atmosphere rather than back into the intake pipe. I would suggest you not do that though. Your ECU calculates how much fuel is needed with a certain amount of air and if that air is vented off into the atmosphere, your engine may get more fuel than needed. I have a friend who has a some type of Turbosmart model BOV on his S80. I'd check this site out: http://www.boostcontroller.com/index.php?category=209

Q: Does anyone know how to adjust the sunroof on an S80 Volvo?
The sunroof doesn't leak, but it's loose in the back. You can hear that it's loose when the car door is closed shut. Yes, it closes properly.

A: There is a piece of metal that is glued to the sunroof that often comes loose and will sound like the sunroof is loose. You need to remove the sunroof and use epoxy to glue it back on. Slide the inner cover back and pull the 2 plastic black covers off the side hinges. Remoce the 4 torx screws and the sunroof will come out the top. You might want to mark where the screws were as they are the adjustment for the sunroof.

Q: How long will a 2001 Volvo S80 T6 Twin Turbo with 183K mile last? Is this worth it or should i look elsewhere?
Is it worth it to buy this vehicle at the price of $3400 dollars? Assuming i want to use it for 4 yrs minimum. here's the link to the listing of the car: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/cto/986721322.html. Please help

A: With that many miles and being a Volvo, it is going to be very expensive to maintain. Within a few short months of owning it, you will spend as much on the car for maintenance as you will have paid for the car. Let that one go unless you have a fat wallet.

Q: What do you think the most boost I can safely push out of on a Volvo S80 T6 is?
Also, whats the stock boost setting? Fully stock engine K&N Air Filter Cat-back exhaust with magnaflow muffler Thinking of getting boost controller

A: The boost is regulated by the computer. It recieves a signal from the boost pressure sensor letting it know when to cut off.First thing would be an ecm (engine control module) enhancement.I'd check IPDUSA.COM, or HEICOSPORTIVNA.COM, to see if they have anything. Then I would manualy adjust the pressure regulators to the new higher maximum parameter for boost.Even putting in a boost controller would probably set a check engine light, and possibly reduce performance if the ecm tries to compensate for a faulty value.

Q: I Need to replace catalytic converter in my 2002 Volvo S80 how long can go without replacing it?

A: Forever. Your engine doesn't really need to worry about that, as long as it doesn't plug up.

Q: What is your opinion of the Volvo S80?
How does it compare to other similar in terms of fuel efficiency, ect.? Is it hard to get parts?

A: It really depends on what trim line you are looking at. The V8 is a waste IMHO. I own two Volvos now and have owned 5 new ones over the last 10 years. They are good cars but for the price of the V8 you can get a 540 BMW. My daily driver is currently an M5 and the e39 BMW is a much better vehicle. RE the I6 engine it is a good deal cheaper and actually priced well based on the other cars in its class. The one down side to the S80 is its ride. They handle like a caddy or benz. If you are looking for a soft ride thats great. If you want something more sports look towards a BMW or the S60 Volvo. Reliability on the S80 is fair and most upkeep is pretty basic.

Q: Volvo S80 warning light on dashboard - wassit mean?
I went for a test drive in a Volvo S80 T6... it drove really well but there was a warning light - an amber triangle with an exclamation mark (!) in it. The handbook said that there should be another light or message on the dash to indicate what the fault was. The only other thing was that there was hardly any fuel and the fuel gauge light was on. Would that be the reason for the triangular warning light too? Thanks, Steve

A: It was exactly that! The triangle with the explaination point in it is a little light that says, "Hey, you have a message!" If you were to push the button on the end of the Blinker control arm, the message would have come up in the text screen of "low fuel' or any other problem you may have. You will see this light when a door is open, the trunk lid is open or whenever the vehicle has something to tell you. IT IS NOT ELECTRICAL!! Volkswagons have electrical problems, not Volvo's. Hope you decide on the T6. I drive one with AWD and it is an awesome car! If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at rbulmer@gengras.com. Good Luck!

Q: volvo s80 key stuck put in backwards?
We have a volvo s80. My dads brother borrowed it for the weekend and he put the key in backwards. He said he cant pull it out, i don't know if hes worried about messing something else out or what. He called the roadside assistance and they weren't very helpful at all. This happen to any of you before?

A: What year? Is it the 07-09 with the remote as the key?

Q: My Volvo S80 (2003) has a problem with the locks, in that everytime I start the ignition the boot unlocks?

A: get it checked

Q: 2000 volvo s80 need to know how is the oil pressure especification?

A: I don't know the specifications, but if the oil light is coming on, there is a very good chance that the oil pan seals are bad. This is a very common problem with Volvo engines. There are o-rings between the oil pan and the engine block that seal the passageways from the oil pump to the filter. These O-rings get distorted and the oil pressure drops and causes the light to come on.

Q: How can I manually shut off a check engine light on a 2001 Volvo S80?

A: That battery thing doesn't work on newer cars! The computer actually stores the code. If the fault is no longer present, after a set number of starts, the light may clear on its own. Nevertheless, a check engine light is NEVER something to ignore. Take it to an autozone and have them check the codes, normally they do it for free. Good Luck!

Q: my volvo s80 starts then cuts out straight away, anyone knows help me?
when l touch the immobilizer it started but then cuts out.

A: There are a few know problems with the S80, depending on year. The immobilizer antenna could be faulty, this is around the ignition, very easy to replace. Metal shavings on the crack shaft position sensor, this is a magnetic pick up coil that senses when the number one cylinder is at top dead center. Metal shavings could cause a false signal and not allow the car to stay running. A simple fix, because you just need to pull the sensor and clean it off. The battery cable could be to close to the crank shaft position sensor causing interference to the signal sent to the ECM (Have seen this a few times). Lastly but not likely. If the transmission has been removed and the bell housing on the transmission and the block have not been cleaned, this can also cause the start and stall due to a lack of grounding to the engine from oxidation, since the ground wire from the battery is connected to the transmission. But this is only if the transmission has been removed.

Q: 150k service on a volvo s80 t6?
I have a 2003 volvo s80 t6. Its due for a 150000 km service. I have changed the spark plugs and timing belt on the previous service. Will this be a major service? I am trying to save some money at the moment.

A: First of all, no matter the make type or price of the vehicle it is in its nature to break down hence having mechanics to fix them. Keeping your car on a regular maintenance schedule can help prevent a minor problem from turning into a MAJOR problem! Having 150 thousand clicks on you're 2003 Volvo is a high amount in its first 10 years of service. If you have had it serviced every 5000Kms and major at least every 30 to 50 thousand then id advise another major one is due, however you are trying to save money in which having you're volvo serviced as much as every 5000Kms will benefit you, and you can just call it a day with one more 5000Kms untill you do the next major. You mention you have already replaced the timing belt in the last service which is a major bonus and should not have to be done untill 300 thousand clicks. Your auto advisor can research your vehicle and inform you of what needs to be done at your specific mileage if my information does not quite add up in you're mind. thank you let me know how it goes.

Q: s80 Volvo Instrument Panel Light Problems?
I've had an s80 2000 Volvo for a few years now. All this time warning lights come on (check engine, ABS, etc) and even the odometer will freeze. And then suddenly everything will disappear as if nothing happened - it's really frustrating! I've taken it to several mechanics and they don't seem to pin point the problem. I've even taken it to the Volvo dealership and they can't find it either. What Volvo did tell me was that it could be a "software update" matter. Please help. Thanks

A: Write to The Volvo factory!

Q: does the Volvo S60 and the volvo S80 have the same body?
I'm wondering because there are no body kits for the S80. I only see S60 or S40.

A: The short answer is no. The S80 is larger in almost every dimension to the s60. The most noticeable differences are the wheel base (where the side skirt of the body kit would go) is 2-3 inches longer giving the S80 the added legroom for rear seat passengers.
