Q: how long does it take for water in your gas tank takes affect?
I own a 2003 Kia Rio. One day it just stopped running while i was on my way to school. It turns out there was a gallon of water in my gas tank. I would like to know how many days could the water last before it takes affect.

Water is heavier than petrol so it would take affect straight away !!!
Firstly I'd think about what garage I bought fuel from..My local tescos had water in their underground tanks !!! caused chaos and made the national news !!!
Ask about locally you may not be the only one to have this problem.

Q: Where can i find basic manual information about a used car?
I'm getting a used 2003 Kia Rio but the manual is no longer w the car. I know if you go to the Kia site they'll give you information about the new ones and i'm sure its all extremely similar but i'd like to find a place online, if possible, that gives the information about the 2003 model. I'm looking for stupid manual stuff like gas tank size, wheel size, horse power,.. and so on.
Anyone know of any sites that could help?

Q: How do you take off the White quick connect fittings on the automobile fuel pump lines?
I'm trying to change put my fuel filter on a 2003 Kia spectra. The 3 lines connecting to the filter have what look like white, push-in quick connect fittings. I need to know how to remove them without damaging the lines. Then, if there are any tricks to re-installing them...please help???

A: Ok what you need is the tools to do it with.
Thy are the quick disconnect fuel line tools, and you can get them from Auto-Zone.
Thy come in a nice houlder and there is 6 or 8. Thy come in different sizes for the different size fuel lines.
Insert the tool and pull gently on the line and it will come apart
What is inside is a small clip that grabs the line and when you insert the tool it moves this clip aside and the line comes apart.
To reconnect just push the 2 fittings together untill thy click. Then pull to be shure it is connected.

Q: Can letting a car run out of gas ruin the engine?
I have a 2003 Kia Amanti, 36K miles. I recently forgot to gas up and was on -e- when I finally could get to the gas station. But the check engine light turned on and now it wont come off. Could I have ruined the engine?
A: Doubtful that there is engine damage from running out of fuel.
Did you put the gas cap back on tight? Something as simple as that can set a Check Engine light.
Q: My car squeals very loudly when it rains or is humid out, anyone know whats causing it?
I have a 2003 Kia Spectra and every time it rains, my car begins to squeal. If I put kitty litter on the serpentine belt, however, it will stop. Do I need to get the belt replaced or is it just because of the moisture in the air and not that big of a deal? Please answer as soon as possible, I made an appt. for tomorrow and do not want to get ripped off, I am a college student and can barely afford it as it is.
A: Replace the belt yourself. It will cost you less than 20 bucks. Probably less than 10. You can get repair manuals at the library or any auto supply store. It should only take like 20 mins,

A: depends on what is wrong with either vehicle but parts are not on the cheap side of life.
Q: My Kia squeals loudly... what belts do i need to replace?
My 2003 Kia Spectra squeals when i start it up almost every time. It stops if i make sure i have the air off but if i turn my lights or the air on it will squeal. If i wait to turn the air on till i have been driving for a while it will not do it .
I was told that i need to replace all of my belts and it will take care of it. I just do not know anything about any of it and my owners manual did not say anything about belts. I would like to just buy the belts and have a friend put them on. What belts do i buy?
A: i forget what it looks like under the hood of your car but pop the hood and look at the end of the motor , there should be only one belt driving everything , it's called a serpentine belt , because it " snakes " all over the place , if that's too hard go to a N.A.P.A. when they aren't too busy and ask for help , or the KIA dealer that it came from , if you have more than one belt replace them all , good luck ,

Q: My car is making a weird squealing sound. I can' tell if its coming from the engine or the frnt passenger tire
My sister's bf borrowed my 2003 kia rio. Its a stick and apparently he didn't know how to drive it even though he has a stick. From what they told me, he couldn't even get it to go over 15 mph, however, I drive my car like theres no tomorrow. You know that sound that someones brakes make when they're bad? It kinda sounds like that but its happening even when I'm not touching the clutch.
I seem to notice the sound once I've been driving it around, so once its warmed up, thats when I hear it. I'm kind of worried because its never done this. I'm thinking that while my car was with them, the way he was driving screwed it up.
Are there any mechanics out there that might have an idea of what it might be? I'm kinda scared to take it to someone because I don't want to get ripped off by them telling me its like 3 or 4 things when its just something simple.
A: you should be able to determine if noise is from engine area or brake area check belt

On my first break, lunch and last break at work I drive around just as an "escape" from the job... I drive a 2003 Kia Spectra... Is this bad for the car in any way?
A: I often wondered that too, I hate making little runs all over with many stops, I call it "ramming around". I asked my mechanic about that and he said it won't hurt the car, what's worse is in cold weather not letting the car get up to operating temperature. So when I go to grab lunch, I take my 2nd key so I can leave the car runninig and lock the door.
But no, starting your car several times a day won't hurt it:)
Q: Every winter my gears get really stiff. It is normal? Or is it a seriuos problem?
I have a 2003 Kia Spectra. I notice every winter or whenever its really cold and I don't heat up my car for a long time, the gears are hard to switch and when I put it in drive or reverse, it takes a while for the car to move. It feels like its stuck.. But once I drive it around for a while its loosens up. Is that a serious problem?
A: Do a tranny service where they flush the trans and put in new fluid and have them check your linkage also to see if the grommets are stiffening up or freezing. Also have them check the shift position sensor/solenoid.
Q: How do you find car parts?
My car has been, well, jumpy lately. We figure we'll try changing my spark plugs, but I'm not sure how to go about buy new ones. If I go to Walmart or any other local store how do I know which ones to get? Are there different sizes? Do I need two, three, four of them? I have a 2003 Kia Rio. I've been searching online but there are so many different brands. I'm confused! :D
