Q: Budget family car?
Are hyundai getz, kia cerato, suzuki swift or mazda 2 suitable choices? Need 1 that's fuel easy and safe for daily use.

A: Everyone better stop and think, buy American, the job you save may be your own. Anyone of the big three have small cars that are safe and dependable with great mileage.

Q: Buying a car?
I am recently considering to buy a car... the best option will be a medium size sedan car which will not create a big burden to me. 1) Toyota Vios 2) Chevrolet Aveo Sedan/ Optra Sedan 3) Hyundai Verna 4) Kia Cerato Variant / Rio Sedan 5) Mitsubishi Lancer 6) Subaru Impreza Sedan These are the few option available to me and within my budget... any comment from existing owner?? I will be interested in term of fuel consumption, design and power...

A: Stay away from Korean made cars. They have the worst resale value of any brand out there. They look good, they feel good, but they are so unreliable. Hyundai puts those big warranties on their cars to get people to buy them. It's a sham. The Chev Aveo is a rebadged Daewoo. Another Korean car. Many a report I've seen about people having new engines put in them around 75K miles. My vote for the best car on your list is the Mitsubishi Lancer. All car reviews say they are the best. Other cars to consider are the Mazda 3 and Toyota's. Your not going to go wrong with these brands. I used to own a Mazda 3 (I regret trading it in) and it got 35mpg all the time with an auto trans. Very reliable and good looks too. Changing the oil on it was a challenge, but after I bought the correct metric tools, it was very easy. Good luck.

Q: which car should i buy ?

A: THE CHEVY THEY MUCH EASIER TO FIX THEN KIA PLUS ITS PRETTY

Q: hi everyone. im about to buy a new/used car, but dunno which one is better?.?
I have a few options but since im a newbie in this, i need help.. Im looking at A) Honda Civic ESI 92/93 model. they are cheap but how to check whether the engine is good? After using it till the COE ends then buy new car. B) Lancer GLX 1.6 (A). new car. C) Mazda 3 1.6(A) or the luxury sedan. Lastly i also heard the Kia Cerato 1.6(A) ia also cheap and affordable. Im really confused as im a firs time buyer and a new driver. pls help me with the decisions, its greatly appreciated.

A: I think you should get a used car. I am driving a 1992 Starlet, it's not giving me any problem so far (for more than 7 months). Honda Civic ESI is a great car. 92/93 model should cost you about S$13,000 with COE till 08/2011 (the COE for that month is about S$18,400). It's very difficult to say by word how to check whether the engine is still good, you got to test drive the car. Of course, if you have no budget, getting a new car of course will be better. But you need to know that the new car you buy only cost 1/3 of the price, 2/3 of it are Government tax, COE, ARF and etc. Take an example, the current price for Lancer GLX 1.6 (A) is about S$51,000. The OMV is about S$11,400, thus ARF = S$12,540 (110% of OMV) Duty = S$2280 (20% of OMV) Latest COE price is about S$17,000. Which meant total Government tax is 12,540 + 2280 + 17000 = S$31,820 (exclude GST). Out of S$51,000, you are paying to the Governement S$31,920 exclude GST!!!!! If you take 10 years loan, plus interest will be more than S$40,000. Which meant you are paying S$5000 tax every year (plus road tax) just to own a new car!!!! So, if you want to be another high tax payer, then you may buy a new car.

Q: please help me, i need to buy a new car, but i cannot decide between a kia cerato and an hyundai elantra.?
I need to know which of these two cars will serve me better; talking about fuel consumption, ruggedness etc.

A: Definitely go for the Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai has much better build quality then Kia. Yes, they are owned by the same company and share some parts, but they are built in different factories and only Hyundai receives high ratings from Consumer Reports and JD Power. The Elantra gets great mileage and is very safe, check http://www.edmunds.com for all the details. Someone said to buy a used Honda that is 2008 model, bad idea, used Honda's are too expensive, you might as well buy new if going for 2006-2008 used Honda or Toyota since they mark up the used models too much. On the other hand a used 2006/2007 Elantra is a very good value and still has the 5yr/60K warranty.
