Q: driving tips for mazda rx8, how to go fast?
when I try to go fast in my rx8 i can't seem to get up to par, any tips for accelerating quickly? ie timing etc its a stick

A: Floor it.

Q: Does anyone have a Mazda RX8 and having trouble with it not starting?

A: Initially you should check battery cables to see if there's corrosion or loose in the battery posts. If everything looks fine visually subsequently your starter might be going bad. Go to a AutoParts store (ie Napa, Autozone or Pepboys) and have it check. Worst cast scenario you might have a trouble code and have a dealer or an authorized Mazda specialist diagnose the codes.

Q: How much power can a Mazda Rx8 handle before the engine blows?

A: That really depends on what upgrades you are doing, but if you are upgrading the motor with quality parts, the motor shouldn't blow. You're more likely to drop the tranny or the rear end. You should try to upgrade things in steps, so you know your whole system can handle it.

Q: How to start a flooded Mazda RX8?
I have an '04 RX8 and have flooded it once before, so I should know better. I had to move my car a short distance and as I was shutting it off I remembered about the flooding problem, but too late. Today I tried to start it and it's flooded...anyone know how to get it started? I've read a little about holding down the gas pedal while cranking, does this work? any other ideas? Thanks

A: The basic way to start a flooded RX8 is just like you said, press the gas pedal to the floor and crank it for about a minute. Pressing the pedal to the floor signals the fuel system to NOT flow ANY fuel, and the cranking will, hopefully, clear the fuel out the exhaust ports. Mazda also recommends having a battery charger with you as the cranking can drain the battery quickly. Even with the above the engine may not start depending on how wet the spark plugs are. This is where removing the plugs the the other poster mentioned. You can dry them off and also add a few ounces of MOTOR oil (not brake fluid) into the holes. The excess gas causes the oil in the rotary housing to break down and you have very low compression due to this. The oil you put in helps give you back some compression

Q: should i get a Nissan 350 or a mazda RX8?
You lads know best!

A: Nissan 350 will outlast the Mazda and have a higher resell value when you are ready to get rid of it.

Q: how do i reset a factory keyless entry system for an 04 mazda rx8?
i cant get it to work..please help

A: I think you should take it to a Mazda (or Ford, they own Mazda) dealer.

Q: What is the best car between a Mazda RX8 and a Nissan 350z?

A: 350z more oomph for your money

Q: Why is the Mazda Rx8, not as popular as the Mazda Rx7?
Give me a good answer, and I would give you 10 points.

A: There are a couple of things that come to mind. The styling could be a major factor. Other than that, as good as the rotary engine is, it is hard to maintain, and it doesn't put out as much as the 13-B (the engine in the RX-7). Also with multiple recalls, the car hasn't had a good reputation. Those 3 things are more than enough to make sure that a car doesn't sell well. Especially when enthusiasts and reviewers both state that the car is mediocre.

Q: how do i maintain a mazda RX8 Engine?
Hi i was thinking about buying a mazda RX8 but i want to know how to maintain the engine? anybody know how? thanx

A: The basic maintenance of a rotary engine is nothing special. The most important part is that you MUST actually do the maintenance. You cannot ignore a rotary like many people do with a standard piston engine. First - Oil Changes. DO THEM. Every 3000 miles religiously. Some of the motor oil is injected into the combustion chambers and consumed, so you want clean oil to give the most complete burn with minimal deposits left behind. Second - Do NOT use synthetic oil. As in #1 above, since some oil is injected and you want a clean burn you want standard oil, not synthetic. Most synthetic oils are designed to have higher flash points to prevent easy burning off, which is the exact opposite of what you want. Third - Drive it like you stole it (well, don't go crazy). Carbon and deposit build-up is more common in a rotary and more damaging. To keep deposits to a minimum let the engine rev like it was designed to do. Try to hit red-line daily. You don't need to scream off the line, just let the revs get up there under normal acceleration frequently. And try to take a nice, long highway run (6 - 8 hours) every year. These will keep any deposits under control. Fourth - Check your oil levels frequently. You will probably have to add 1 quart between oil changes due to the losses from the injection system. Fifth - Use good gas. Premium is recommended. The RX8 has a high compression motor. The motor will run on lesser grades but the ECU will cut back the power to prevent detonation/pre-ignition of the fuel. Detonation/Knocking can destroy a rotary engine VERY quickly. If it damages one apex seal you're done... Sixth - Never, EVER, let the motor overheat. It can warp the rotor housings and then the motor is finished.

Q: What's the best way to improve horsepower on a Mazda RX8?

A: ^^don't listen to this guy...he's misinformed. reliability issues with rotaries started and ended with the twin turbo REW. There are many NA rotaries that are virtually indestructible. To answer your question the best way to add solid gains is to get the Greddy Turbo Kit, the InterceptorX PCM upgrade, and the Turbo XS exhaust and midpipe. That alone will give you roughly 100-120WHP and 100ft.lbs of torque.

Q: how do i get my mazda rx8 key copied?
i know i cant just go in any simple place to get my key copied since it has that whole "special" thing to it. so yeah can someone tell me what i should do to get it copied just in case i need an extra? and how much it would cost? thanks

A: If you want a key just to open the car, then anyone who cuts keys can copy it for you. But if you want the key to start the car as well, you will need to go to a Mazda dealership, and make sure you bring BOTH sets of keys you already have, or they will not be able to program it. You can find your local Mazda dealer at www.mazdausa.com

Q: how is a mazda rx8 in snow and rain?
haha, no i didnt yet, and yes i know, what does that have to do with my question?

A: Handling in snow and rain is all about the tires. The stock tires on the RX8 are high performance summer tires. They're pretty good on dry pavement but are not that good in the rain and cannot be used on snow at all. DO NOT GET ALL SEASON TIRES to use in winter! The RX8 needs proper winter tires if you're going to encounter snow. Some high performance all season tires are ok for the rest of the year... but not winter. And so many people here have some major fear of RWD and winter. You must all be young folk. You do realize that almost all cars 30 years ago were RWD? I drove many years with RWD in winter. No big deal.

Q: I want to rent a Mazda RX8 for a day; it's typically not carried by rental companies. How can I rent one?
I live outside Cleveland, Ohio.

A: Go to the dealer. They have cars for you when your car is in the shop, so maybe they will let you rent one if they have cars for renting.

Q: should I buy a mazda rx8?
im thinking about selling my 07 toyota camry and buying a 05 or 06 mazda rx8 with like 20k miles on it. is that a good car? any experience? I love the style and the speed but not fully sure if im doing a right thing. Im 21 and I love fastness.

A: I recently bought a new Mazda RX8 and I would highly reccomend the car to anyone. It is very stylish and unique, and I enjoy driving it a lot...but...there are things that I wish I had known about it before I chose that car. first, the gas milage isnt the greatest, I drive the manual and get about 15 mpg...and it requires anything with an Octane higher then 91, so I dont know about current gas prices in your area, but theyre not fantastic where im at. the RX8 also burns oil, so you must keep spare oil with you, because you are "supposed" to check it every other fill up, mine requires more oil at about every 2000 miles, but if you dont keep up on it, it can be disasterous for your engine. but on the plus side, i love my car to death, the handling is amazing, it runs very smoothly, gets some pretty good speed, is very stylish =] and you have to get used to the rotary engine, it requires a bit more routine maintence then a normal engine.
